In with the old, Out with the old…

No I’m not turning into a super cat lover. I’ve been trying to think of new concepts to shot and some new ideas to paint. For painting going back to my old style seems to be the best thing to do. I kept trying to come up with new ideas and images and ways to paint had lead to some creative burn out. simple images and colors with my fractured style of background was the best thing to go back to. Photography wise, I have some ideas but have yet to get around to. I’m trying to shoot film in addition to doing some creative digital photography which has me loosening up a bit and just trying to shoot around. I realize and know that i’ve been just trying too hard previously and i just have to let go have fun and shoot. it’s in with the old, out with the old.

For good and for bad, it all works out…

Some time ago I had ordered several rolls of lomochrome purple film and had purchased a used old canon 650 film camera from ebay. The film had arrive near the summer of this year and I had this grand plan to go out to the parks and areas of the city and shoot the greenery and sometimes with a model or friends and take amazing pictures with the color shifts of the film. Well that didn’t work out as planned and as the seasons changed I really wanted to try the film out with a few friends in Central Park. People didn’t have the time to go shoot so I took a walk myself in the park for an afternoon shooting with the the film camera and lomochrome purple. The walk was fun and shooting with film again was a very careful a mindful process. A week later and I got the results and I was over the moon with how well it all turned out. I went back the the park, this time to shoot with my xt2 and sigma 18-35mm lens. The second time didn’t feel as great as the first but it was still a good walk again. Got some creativity going but have to stop forcing myself, I also have to stop including others in my ideas and just do the things I want to do and know that I may have to do them on my own. It’s all good, for good and for bad, it all works out.

Out of the comfort zone

It would seem that continually being creative is quite difficult to keep up. The thought of creating something to impress or get attention is the wrong way to go in the oversaturated social media space. This makes one forget why we originally take pictures and create art in the first place. I once told someone that “likes are not love” and given that I said that trying hard to create to show for praise and adulation had lead to the continuous stump and lack of creativity I was going through. So here it is, just going to go out and have some fun. Just shoot for fun. Go to different places, shoot candids of friends, hang out and chill again and not worry about where the pics go or who sees them. Shoot for fun, just shoot for fun.

For every season, There is a reason…

It’s been quite the year. A less artistic but more stressful year. And a year of quite a few loses. Not at the bottom trying to get up but still getting older and wiser. Tried a little to hard to do things this year and it cause the opposite in terms of art and photography, going to take it easy and not force anything. I can only do and be so much. The times and seasons are changing, so are the reasons. And for every season there is a reason.
